Flexicon Meet Hero Dog at Rail Live 2019
On the 19 – 20 June 2019, Flexicon exhibited at Rail Live 2019 held at Long Marston near Stratford Upon Avon in the United Kingdom.
Rail Live is the only exhibition bringing the rail industry together in an actual railway environment as opposed to the usual exhibition hall format. With over 200 exhibitors and 6000 visitors each year, it is a great event to showcase the best of the UK rail industry.
This year, Flexicon had a special visitor onto their stand, a retired police dog, PD Mojo. Mojo was awarded one of the highest honours a service animal can get – the PDSA Order of Merit. He was awarded this honour for being the first police dog to arrive at the scene of the Manchester Arena terror attack back in May 2017, working throughout the night following the devastating scenes alongside his Handler PC Phil Healy.
Mojo has since retired and is now working alongside PC Phil to raise awareness and funds for the Railway Dogs Benevolent Fund. The cause highlighted how years of chasing criminals and searching for terrorism devices can lead to police dogs needing expensive medical bills in their later years.
The fund will pay for ongoing medical care for the retired dogs, whose bills become the responsibility of the owner (usually the handler). It’s also often difficult to obtain adequate pet insurance cover because of pre-existing ailments, injuries sustained at work, and conditions related to the dangerous nature of policing.
The Rail Live show has proven to be to be another great success for Flexicon, not only is it an ideal location to catch up with existing customers and contacts but to meet new potential customers, opening up some incredible opportunities within Rail.
